Belgweiler is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Simmern-Rheinböllen community .

history

Belgweiler was first mentioned in a document in 1285.

With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Catholic Chapel of St. Anna

The Anna Chapel was built in its present form around 1720. The baroque altar dates from this period. It was created in the same workshop as the altars in the nearby Ravngiersburg "Hunsrück Cathedral". It is the Kreuznach workshop of the Carmelite brothers Johann Petri Zentze (sculptor), Andreas Mosang and Simon Dietz. The unplastered slate quarry stone building shows older window openings (see illustration).
