coat of arms
Blazon : “Divided; above in green a striding, looking, red armored and tongued silver leoparded lion, below sheathed in blue and gold, covered with a silver buckle, set with red precious stones. " | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The silver leoparded lion refers to the coat of arms of the Knights of Steinkallenfels , who owned property in Henau as early as the 12th century. It is also reminiscent of the Knights of Kellenbach, who belong to the descendants of the Steinkallenfelsers and who became co-owners of the Kellenbach High Court in the 13th century, including Henau. The chess in the lower half of the shield is reminiscent of the Counts of Sponheim . They were the owners of Koppenstein Castle, located in the Henau district, and had a share in the Kellenbach court. The buckle refers to the von Schmidtburg knight dynasty , also a partner in the high court of Kellenbach and later owner of the Koppenstein. |
Economy and Infrastructure
The formerly dominant agriculture has almost completely disappeared, a large farm cultivates almost all areas. Above the village there is a large open pit quartzite mine .
