Schwarzerden is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Kirner Land association.
geography
Schwarzerden is located in the Hunsrück at an altitude of 450 meters on the edge of the southern Soonwald above the Kellenbach . 58.6 percent of the district area is forested.
history
Name researchers interpret the place name of the Soonwald community Schwarzerden as a settlement area with dark-colored, humus-rich soil.
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1325, when the Archbishop of Trier Baldwin acquired rights and property to the settlement from the knight Friedrich von Steinkallenfels . In 1334 a forest "Schwartzerdyn" "propre castrum Coppenstein" (near Koppenstein Castle ) was mentioned, which the Archbishop of Trier also bought. In 1355 the knight Tilmann vom Stein (Wartenstein) was enfeoffed with this property . The Trier fiefdoms were subsequently given by the archbishops and electors to families of the lower nobility as after- fiefs. The von Rüdesheim (1439) and the von der Leyen (1543) were named as feudal lords . Furthermore, the Knights of Schmidtburg (1517) and the Vögte von Hunolstein (1555) were endowed with goods and rights in Schwarzerden .
During the Middle Ages, black earths belonged to the high court of Kellenbach , which also included the villages of Kellenbach, Henau and Königsau . Originally the lords of Steinkallenfels and their co-heirs were probably the sole judges in this judicial district. Through inheritance, sales and fiefs, the jurisdiction was later divided among several local lords, so that the high court of Kellenbach represented a condominium with joint high jurisdiction. In 1601 there were 14 fireplaces (houses) in Schwarzerden, which corresponded to about sixty to seventy inhabitants.
In 1579, the residents of Schwarzerden still paid two sums of “Zollhafer” to the Lords of Steinkallenfels for supplying the Kirner market. This illustrates on the one hand an older dependency on the Steinkallenfelsern, on the other hand a certain economic tendency of the local residents towards Kirn.
1702 lived in Schwarzerden eleven families that the counts of Sponheim to subject were. In 1766 there were a total of 44 households, all of which were under the administrative sovereignty of the Margrave of Baden as the heir to the Sponheim territory.
In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was occupied during the First Coalition War , and in 1798 the area was reorganized by the French directorate based on the French model. The village of Schwarzerden was assigned to the newly formed Mairie Monzingen in the canton of Sobernheim and the arrondissement of Simmern in the Rhine-Moselle department .
After the end of French rule in the area on the left bank of the Rhine, Schwarzerden came to the mayor's office in Gemünden in 1816 (since 1927 Amt Gemünden) in the Prussian district of Simmern , where the place remained until the Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform of the 1970s. Schwarzerden has been a member of the Kirn-Land community since November 8, 1970 .

coat of arms
Blazon : "In a split shield, blue and gold box at the front, a silver castle tower in red at the back." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The front half of the shield refers to the former affiliation to the front Grafschaft Sponheim Amt Koppenstein. The castle tower in the back half of the shield shows the Alteburg in the colors of the Lords of Steinkallenfels (High Court of Kellenbach) to which the community of Schwarzerden used to belong.
On May 15, 1972, the municipal council commissioned the graphic designer Brust, Kirnsulzbach, to develop a design for a municipal coat of arms. At its meeting on November 17, 1972, the Council adopted the draft presented. After approval by the State Archives, the Ministry of the Interior in Mainz granted on January 17, 1973 permission to use one's own coat of arms. |
