Rehborn is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Nahe-Glan .
geography
Rehborn is located on the Glan , between Meisenheim in the south and Odernheim am Glan in the north.
The residential areas Bahnposten 3061, Neuhaus and Schreckhof also belong to Rehborn .
In some vineyards of Rehborn, fossils of plants and animals from the Rotliegend period ( Permian ) were discovered about 290 million years ago. Animal fossils include fish, amphibians, and reptiles.
history
After the Congress of Vienna Rehborn belonged to the Rhine District in Bavaria , where it remained until the end of World War II . During the Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform in 1969, it was reclassified from the Rockenhausen district to the Bad Kreuznach district. From an ecclesiastical point of view, Rehborn still belongs to the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate and the Diocese of Speyer .

The local mayor is Karl Otto Dornbusch. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 54.32% of the vote and is the successor to Thomas Link (SPD), who had not run for office after ten years.
Economy and Infrastructure
The structure, which was strongly agricultural until after the Second World War , adapted very quickly to the changed conditions. In the absence of its own industry, many people commute to work, and the village developed into a residential community.
The place was connected to the railway network in 1896 when the Lauterecken - Odernheim line was opened as a direct continuation of the Lauter Valley Railway. In 1904, this section merged with the Glantalbahn , which was fully opened that year , but has since been closed.
