When the Nahegau was divided up , the place passed to the Counts of Zweibrücken , who passed it on as a fief to the Knights of Montfort.
After the Congress of Vienna , Oberhausen belonged to Bavaria , where it remained until the end of World War II . Up until January 1, 1965, Oberhausen was united with the neighboring town of Duchroth to form the local community of Duchroth-Oberhausen .
During the administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, it was reclassified from the Rockenhausen district to the Bad Kreuznach district. From an ecclesiastical point of view, Oberhausen still belongs to the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate and the Diocese of Speyer .
