Schweinschied is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Nahe-Glan .

geography

The street village is located in the North Palatinate Uplands southwest of the 393 meter high Ringberg. 37.2 percent of the district area is forested. To the north is Hundsbach , east Jeckenbach , south Löllbach and west is Hoppstädten .

history

Schweinschied was first mentioned in a document in 1388.

From 1816 to 1866 Schweinschied belonged to the Oberamt Meisenheim of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Homburg and came with this to Prussia in 1866 .

Culture and sights

On the slope of the Ringberg there is a 50 hectare nature reserve . The orchard and nature trail created in 1999 leads to the Roman monument, a niche tomb carved out of the rock. It is the largest natural stone monument north of the Alps .
