Hüffelsheim is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rüdesheim .
Geographical location
Hüffelsheim is located on a plateau above the Nahe in the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park . In the northeast are Rüdesheim and Bad Kreuznach .
The Antoniushof, Marienhof and Wiesenhof residential areas also belong to Hüffelsheim .
history
The earliest mention of the place is from the year 766 as Uffiliubesheim in the ownership documents of the Franconian imperial monastery Lorsch on Bergstrasse . In other documents of this monastery , Hüffelsheim is still mentioned in its numerous widely scattered possessions, e.g. B. in the years 767 to 785. On December 3, 785 an Odilher from the Otokare family donated his entire property in Usfiliubesheim to this monastery . Foundations to the Lorsch Abbey can be found in Hüffelsheim up to around 804 .

The federal highway 41 runs in the north . In Norheim is a train station on the Bingen – Saarbrücken line .
The Powunden Bell
During the Second World War , the large church bell of the Hüffelsheim church was confiscated and destroyed by bombs at the Hamburg collection point . Therefore the Protestant parish asked the bell office of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland for a replacement. In 1952, one of the two bells from the church in Powunden near Königsberg (Prussia) was loaned to her . As before, the bell calls to the service.
