history

Tiefenthal is the first time in a confirmation of ownership from Pope Leo IX. mentioned for the monastery of St. Maximin in Trier on January 16, 1051 as "Daffindal" . The document is probably forged, but it is the oldest evidence of the place. Under Nassau-Saarbrücken , Tiefenthal belonged to the Jugenheim office , which had come to the Nassau dynasty in the 14th century from the Raugrafen via the Lords of Bolanden and the Counts of Sponheim-Dannenfels . In 1683, according to a fiefdom register, the place belonged to the Nassau-Ottweiler rulership , which had pledged it to the Counts of Wartenberg . In 1717 the village came to the line of the younger line Nassau-Saarbrücken, which pledged it to the Rhine Counts of Grehweiler in 1721 . Around 1800 the Schinderhannes frequented Tiefenthal because two of his accomplices came here. Tiefenthal has belonged to Rheinhessen since 1816. On March 17, 1945, about a quarter of the buildings were destroyed by American tank fire.

Others

In mid-September 2012, Tiefenthal became known nationwide that, due to a lack of personnel at the volunteer fire brigade, selected citizens were to be obliged to serve in the local fire brigade. The background is the provisions of the state law on fire protection, general assistance and disaster control as well as the fire brigade regulation of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, according to which a basic deployment time of eight minutes must be guaranteed. Corresponding draft notices are issued by the responsible municipal administration in Bad Kreuznach.
