Laubenheim is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Langenlonsheim-Stromberg community .
Geographical location
Laubenheim is located on the Nahe just before it flows into the Rhine . To the south, Bad Kreuznach , in the north of Bingen am Rhein .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 829. During the time of the tribal duchies, the place belonged to the Duchy of Franconia .

Municipal council
The council in Laubenheim consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the volunteer local mayor as chairman. Up to the 2014 election, a personalized proportional representation was used because several lists had started.

Local mayor is Barbara Sand (non-party). In the local elections on May 26, 2019, she prevailed against the previous incumbent Frank Brendel (CDU) with a share of 72.01% of the vote.

The lion in the coat of arms reminds of the former affiliation to the Electoral Palatinate . The grapes refer to the traditionally important viticulture for Laubenheim.
Economy and Infrastructure
Viticulture
Laubenheim belongs to the "Nahetal wine-growing area" in the Nahe wine-growing region . There are 13 wine-growing businesses in the village and the area under vines is 114 hectares . About 76% of the cultivated wine are white wine grape varieties (as of 2007). In 1979, 30 companies were still active, the 80 hectares of vineyards at that time were significantly less.

The federal highway 48 runs through Laubenheim, the federal highway 61 runs in the north . There is a stop on the Bingen – Saarbrücken railway line in town .
