The wine village Boos is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rüdesheim .

The municipality of Boos is located between the Hunsrück and the North Palatinate Bergland on the Nahe , southeast of Bad Sobernheim .

Neighboring communities are Staudernheim , Waldböckelheim , Oberstreit and Duchroth .

history

The village was built on a flood-free sliding slope of the Nahe on a low terrace north of the Nahe river by a stream. As numerous finds from the prehistoric times show, Boos is one of the oldest settlements in the vicinity. The Roman " Villa Rustica " with its preserved crypto portico is well known .

During the time of the tribal duchies , the place was in the Duchy of Franconia .

The name is explained after a mention around the year 1000 as boys with bush area. Archbishop Willigis (995-1011) who gave Duke Conrad of Carinthia from the House of Salian the Disibodenberg to salvation of his dead daughter Udo an estate of 20 acres of land and two Salian occupied Huben in "Boys".
