Schöneberg lies in the Hunsrück on a ridge of the Soonwald between the Guldenbachtal and the Gräfenbachtal .

The local council in Schöneberg consists of twelve council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Local mayor is Heinz-Dieter Wopen (WfS). In the local elections on May 26, 2019, he was elected with a share of 50.37% of the votes, making him the successor to Uwe Pöttmann (WGP), who was no longer running for office.

economy
In addition to the meager agriculture, the Schönebergers earned their living in the past by making brooms . As in the entire Hunsrück region , many residents emigrated to the USA and Canada. At the present time, local economic life is concentrated in several master craftsmen's businesses in the automotive, electrical, hairdressing, roofing and carpentry industries and two restaurants. Mobile sales vehicles from the local bakers and butchers complete the offer. Financial services can be partially covered through the local insurance agents.
Facilities
Schöneberg has a public community library , a community hall and the volunteer fire brigade with a support association .
The day care center and primary school are located in the neighboring town of Schweppenhausen. There are secondary schools in Wallhausen and Stromberg (IGS).
