Microsoft Office Mobile is the office suite from the US software manufacturer Microsoft for the Windows Mobile , Windows Phone and Nokia Belle operating systems . The standard scope includes the three components Word Mobile, Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile. The OneNote Mobile component can be added to the mobile device by owners of the Microsoft OneNote software . With Windows Phone 7 and Microsoft Office Mobile for Nokia Belle, OneNote Mobile is already part of the standard scope.
General
Microsoft Office Mobile was introduced in April 2000 under the name Pocket Office for the Pocket PC 2000 operating system. After the release of Windows Mobile 5.0, the name was changed to Microsoft Office Mobile. The mobile version of Microsoft's Outlook software is not marketed as part of Microsoft Office Mobile, but as an independent Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile software. The mobile Outlook consists of individual applications for e-mail, calendar and contacts.
Office Mobile for Windows Mobile
Word Mobile
Word Mobile, the mobile equivalent of the word processing program Microsoft Word , can be used to view and edit existing documents. When using a mobile device with a touchscreen , additional features are available in Word Mobile, such as the spell check, the cutting and pasting of parts of the document, the counting of the written words and the search for and replacement of parts of the text. Not all formats of the Word documents created on the PC can be displayed. Conversely, however, the formatting created with Word Mobile remains visible on the PC when viewed with Word.
Excel Mobile
The mobile version of the spreadsheet program Microsoft Excel can be used for editing spreadsheets. The lack of processing functions of Excel Mobile compared to Excel and the small display sizes of mobile devices make processing complex tables difficult. When using a mobile device with a touchscreen , additional features are available in Excel Mobile, such as the creation of new tables and diagrams as well as the copying and pasting of formulas.
PowerPoint Mobile
PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view existing PowerPoint presentations. It is not possible to create or edit PowerPoint presentations.
OneNote Mobile
OneNote Mobile allows you to create and view notes. In addition, synchronization with the PC version of OneNote is possible.
Office Mobile for Windows Phone
In October 2010, Windows Phone 7 , the successor to Windows Mobile 6.5, was presented. Windows Phone 7 includes Office in version 2010 and therefore does not need to be installed separately. Office Mobile 2010 for Windows Phone 7 enables the creation, editing and viewing of documents for Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint. With the help of Microsoft SharePoint Workspace Mobile, these documents can be synchronized with a SharePoint 2010 website, which enables joint processing and central storage. The Office suite has also been updated with Windows Phone 8 .
Office Mobile for Nokia Belle
Office Mobile for Nokia Belle (formerly Symbian Belle) was announced in September 2011 . This includes mobile versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Office Mobile for Nokia Belle enables the creation, editing and viewing of Word and Excel documents; PowerPoint documents can be edited and viewed, but not recreated. Office Mobile for Nokia Belle was released in April 2012 and is available free of charge. Other Office Mobile Apps from Microsoft for Nokia Belle are OneNote mobile, Document Connection, Lync 2010 mobile and PowerPoint Broadcast.
