Nassrin Ranjbar Irani

Nassrin Ranjbar Irani (* 1955 in Shiraz , Iran ) is an Iranian poet , writer and literary scholar .

Nassrin R. Irani worked professionally in Iran for newspapers and magazines, radio and television companies as a writer, editor and programmer. She started to publish her own poems at the age of 14, at 16 she was awarded a literary prize from the Etela'at publishing house . In addition to her studies, she worked from 1974 to 1977 as a program designer, writer and presenter of a program for culture and literature. This 45-minute program was broadcast live three times a week under the title “Baad az Zohr-e yek Ruz-e sarshar” (The afternoon of a fulfilled day). During this time she designed over 500 hours of programs. Many of these programs began with an interview with literary and art greats such as B. Masud Farzad, Ali Hassuri, Iraj Dehghan, Parviz Khaefi, Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Bijan Samandar, Alireza Meybodi etc.

She later worked as an editor and literary editor and as a member of the Committee for Reforming the Persian Script at the Ministry of Culture and Art . With the start of the publication of the most important literary and cultural magazine Keyhan-e farhangi , she was invited to work on this magazine.

At the same time she wrote short and long stories under various pseudonyms for the women's magazine of the publishing house Keyhan (Zan-e Ruz). She also worked for literary magazines ( Ferdousi , Tehranmossawar , Bonyad , etc.) as a freelance editor for the poetry column. She also wrote plays for Tehran television.

During her studies in Shiraz at Pahlavi University, she worked as an actress at theater festivals, for example at the Festival of Art in Shiraz (Jashn-e Honar-e Shiraz), at the Ferdousi theater festival in Tūs and at the university theater.

Nassrin R. Irani completed her bachelor's degree as well as her master's degree in the field of Persian language and literature in Iran. In Germany she did her PhD in Iranian Studies . She taught Persian literature at the University of Hamburg .

Nassrin R. Irani has lived in exile in Hamburg since 1987 and works from there with almost all Persian literary magazines in the world. She publishes poems, stories, book reviews, and theater reviews. Her poems have also been published in several German literary magazines. In addition to her numerous readings and lectures in Europe, the USA and Canada, she has also published five books in Germany. Her publishing house in Iran applied for publication permission for three more of her books back in 2005. She is a member of the German Writers' Association , the international PEN and the Hamburg Literature Center.

Ranjbar Irani has been giving seminars and lectures on classical and modern Persian literary greats and their masterpieces since 2009 (two years in Hafez-shenasi, then Nezami, currently Rumi).
