Blazon : "Above a shield base divided by gold and blue with three arches in blue and gold chess a red post, topped with a black raven." | |
Founding of the coat of arms: Gehlweiler belonged to the Koppenstein office, which was temporarily pledged to the knights of Koppenstein. The chess and the raven are part of the coat of arms of the Knights of Koppenstein. After Koppenstein Castle fell into disrepair, the Koppensteiner Amtsschultheiß lived in Gehlweiler. In his seal he used chess and raven in the 18th century. The base of the shield refers to the bridge over the Simmerbach, a quarry stone building with three arches from the 18th century. |
