geography

The rural residential community of Ohlweiler is located in the valley of the Simmerbach at the mouth of the Holzbach, centrally in the Hunsrück . To Ohlweiler includes the living space brickyard.

history

It was first mentioned in a document in 1310. The place belonged to the Duchy of Palatinate-Simmern , which introduced the Reformation in 1556 . Later the elector was ruler of the Rhine . With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French and from 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton of Simmern in the Rhine-Mosel department . Ohlweiler was the main town of a Mairie . In 1815 the region and thus the municipality of Ohlweiler was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration, Ohlweiler gave its name to the mayor's office in Simmern , which was established in 1816 and to which 14 communities belonged. After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French again, the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946.
