geography
Würrich is centrally located in the Hunsrück , directly on the Hunsrückhöhenstrasse B 327 and in the immediate vicinity of the Frankfurt-Hahn airport .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1295 and was owned by the Counts of Sponheim . A chapel was mentioned in Würrich as early as 1317. In 1437 the place fell to the Margraves of Baden and the Count Palatine near Rhine , who administered Belg and Würrich as common rulers. In 1708 the dominion was divided, Belg and Würrich were assigned to the Margrave of Baden. With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops in 1794 , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1870 a Roman estate was discovered in the hallway "Auf der Acht" . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French again , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
The former schoolhouse of Würrich was dismantled in 1996 at the original location and rebuilt in the folklore and open-air museum Roscheider Hof . The topping-out ceremony was held in May 2000. The house was then used to demonstrate the half-timbered construction and for corresponding school class projects . After further renovations, the house was opened to the general public in 2008.
