The village of Krastel , official spelling until December 6, 1935: Crastel, is a district of the local community Bell in the Verbandsgemeinde Kastellaun , in the middle of the low mountain range of the Hunsrück in the Rhein-Hunsrück district , Rhineland-Palatinate . Krastel was an independent municipality until 1974.

The place Krastel is located on a slight hillside ( 405  m above sea  level ) on the Hunsrück plateau on the upper reaches of the Brühlbach. The highest point is the Motzenberg at 455  m above sea level. NHN . The Heidhof is separated from the main town approx. 800 m to the east.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1310. The place name Krastel only exists once in Germany. It probably goes back to the earlier meaning of the word "crane". This is how people used to refer to lower conifers such as juniper. Since March 17, 1974, the place belongs to the local community Bell.

politics

Politically that is local district Krastel from the mayor and the council Bell represented, but also has its own town council and a mayor .

The local council consists of three local council members. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , the advisory board members were elected by majority vote.
