Heyweiler is a district of the local community Beltheim in the low mountain range of the Hunsrück in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
location
Heyweiler is located north of the core town of Beltheim and west of the Sevenich district . It is largely surrounded by forest and lies above the Baybach , a tributary of the Moselle, which flows past to the north .
history
Heyweiler originally belonged to the parish Beltheim, sovereign to the county of Sponheim . In 1557 the Reformation was introduced in the form of Calvinism , but the family of the Walpotten von Bassenheim , who were wealthy around Beltheim, remained Catholic, so that there were violent denominational conflicts; To this day, the Beltheim community is denominationally divided. The parish of Beltheim was dissolved in the course of the Reformation, but Heyweiler was added to the (Catholic) community of Gödenroth in 1696, against which the Protestant Heyweiler residents protested and in some cases boycotted going to church in Gödenroth. In the middle of the 18th century, the building of a separate church was started, which got an organ in 1838. 1795–1814 Heyweiler was occupied by the French and then came to Prussia. In 1914 the old church was replaced by a new one.
On March 17, 1974 Heyweiler was incorporated into the Beltheim community.
