The Wildburghöhe in the Rhein-Hunsrück district is 633.5 m above sea level. NN high elevation of the Soonwald , part of the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate .
Geographical location
The elevation is located in the central part of the Soonwald on the boundary of the local community Sargenroth , about 4 km southeast of the village. Mengigart and Tiefenbach are also nearby. The Lametbach flows south-east and south around the elevation . The forester's lodge Wildburg is nearby.
Wildburg ruins
On the Wildburghöhe are the remains of the medieval Wildburg from the 12th century. Originally the Reichsburg was used to administer the Soonwald, later the Reich sold the castle to the Dukes of Simmern . The castle fell into disrepair since the 16th century. The facility, which is barely recognizable today, once had an area of around 140 m by 100 m. It was protected from the south by a moat and from the north by a moat.
