Riedel
A Riedel is a narrow, elongated, flat terrain back (that is, a full-form ) between two valleys . The German dictionary of the Brothers Grimm sees the meaning of "mountain ridge, elevation in the terrain"
Emergence
This landscape element was created by soil flow ( solifluction ). Typically, a thawed, water-saturated soil layer slides over a layer of permafrost soil . At an obstacle, for example a rock formation, the sliding mass is inhibited and a bump is created. However, it can also be a question of former river terraces that were subsequently cut up by fluvial erosion . In the case of an overlay with younger sedimentary covers ( loess , slope debris ), the Riedel have a more rounded and therefore gentle shape. A sequence of Riedeln forms a so-called Riedel landscape.
Occurrence of reed landscapes
- in southern Burgenland and in the eastern Styrian hill country
- the majority of the Danube-Iller-Lech-Platte natural space unit in Bavarian Swabia or in Upper Swabia ( Baden-Württemberg ) with the exception of the large river valleys of the Danube , Iller and Lech , the Donauried and the Federseeried and the old moraine landscapes in the south of the natural space unit
- the Leubnitz-Tobertitzer Riedel area in Vogtland , west of the town of Plauen , between the valleys of Goldbach and Rosenbach
