Roes is a municipality in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has been a member of the Kaisersesch community since July 1, 2014 . The area boasts some place next to the Roes the Burg Pyrmont , Pyrmont, the mill with the waterfall of Elz , the Swan and the Church Pyrmont courtyards.
geography
The place is in the front Eifel between Treis-Karden on the Moselle and the A 48. The Elzbach flows through the district.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 928. In a deed of donation from Kurtrier from 1121, the place is still called "Roseda" (Latin: roseturn = hedge of wild roses). The lords of Pyrmont were the landlords of the village from 1317 as successors to the St. The property was divided among several landlords. In 1790, in addition to Count Waldbott von Bassenheim, the barons of Clodt, von Gymnich , the Himmerod abbey , the lords of Solemacher and the Franciscan convent in Karden owned land in Roes. From 1794 Roes was under French rule and from 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton of Münstermaifeld . In 1815 the place was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . The Swan Church, which was completely destroyed in the Second World War in 1944, was rebuilt in a modern form in 1951 under the direction of KP Böhr. Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
politics
Municipal council
The council in Roes consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
coat of arms
Blazon : "Above a blue shield base, in it a silver swan, in silver a green pole, topped with a silver urn, in it three awned (golden) ears of grain, in front a red rafter sloping beam, behind three pole-wise red (heraldic) roses." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The swan on a blue background indicates the community-owned Swan Church, which was built around 1460 to 1492. The rafter beam was borrowed from the coat of arms of the von Pyrmont family, they were the builders of the Swan Church. The urn pictured was recovered in 1936 in a cremation grave from the urnfield era , east of the Roes – Brohl road; it symbolizes the centuries-old settlement of the space. The three golden ears of wheat in the coat of arms represent the agriculture carried out in the village. The three roses indicate the place name. |
