Gillenbeuren is a municipality in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ulmen community .
geography
The community is located in a valley in the southern Eifel . The Berghof and Birkenhof residential areas also belong to Gillenbeuren .
history
The first documentary mention comes from the year 1220. The robber baron Johann Lutter von Kobern was arrested in 1536 near Gillenbeuren and later executed in Koblenz.
Until the end of the 18th century, Gillenbeuren belonged to the rulers of Kurtrier and was assigned to the high court of Alflen in the office of Cochem . In the Trier fire book from 1563 there were 22 fireplaces (households) in Gillenbeuren ( Gelenbeuren ), in 1684 there were only ten.
In 1794, French revolutionary troops annexed the Left Bank of the Rhine ; from 1798 to 1814 Gillenbeuren belonged to the canton of Lutzerath in the Koblenz arrondissement of the Rhine-Mosel department . The municipal council (Gillenbeurener community representative in the Mairie Lutzerath ) was the citizen Mertes. There was a school teacher in the village.
Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, the community of Gillenbeuren came to the Lutzerath mayor in the Cochem district in 1816 , which belonged to the new administrative district of Koblenz and from 1822 to the Rhine province .
The community of Gillenbeuren has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 , since 1969 it has belonged to the district of Cochem-Zell and since 1970 of the Ulmen community .
In 1985 Gillenbeuren was the district winner in the competition " Our village should be more beautiful ".

The municipal council in Gillenbeuren consists of six council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. The six seats in the local council are divided between two groups of voters .
