The Kaisersesch office was an administrative and judicial district in the Electorate of Trier with its seat in Kaisersesch, which existed from the 13th century to 1794 . From the middle of the 16th century, the Kaisersesch office was subordinate to the Mayen office .

history

In 1419 a bailiff was named Arnold von Ketge, who was bailiff of Kaiseresch and Kochheim. By 1584 at the latest, the Kochheim office was separated from the Kaiseresch office again. In the state parliament farewell on November 14, 1548, Hermann von Weyer von Clauer is named as the official of Kaiseresch. After his death, the office of Kaiseresch was subordinated to the (Ober- )amt Mayen. As bailiffs, the bailiffs of Mayen have also been named as bailiffs in Kaiseresch.

At the end of the HRR, the office consisted of Düngenheim , Eulgem , Gamlen , Kaisersesch and Urmersbach .

Office building

The former Kurtrierische Amtshaus (Burgmannenhaus, "Old Prison") in the historic town center, with a medieval core, is now used as a local museum. As a cultural monument, it is under monument protection .
