Office Alken
The Amt Alken was an administrative and judicial district in the Electorate of Trier that existed from the 14th century to the end of the 18th century as a condominium with Kurköln . The Trier part belonged to the Nieder-Erzstift Trier and was subordinate to the Oberamt Münstermaifeld since the beginning of the 18th century .
The institution
The office consisted of the places Alken , Oberfell and Kattenes .
The origin of the office was the acquisition of Thurant Castle in 1248 by the two archbishoprics.
Most recently, the office of bailiff was hereditary. The last bailiff was Johann Maria Rudolf Count Waldbott von Bassenheim (1731–1805).
Official building
The Laacher Hof was the official seat of the Electorate of Cologne.
