Office of Prüm (Kurtrier)
The office of Prüm was an administrative and judicial district in the Electorate of Trier that existed from 1576 to the end of the 18th century .
history
The basis of the office was the ownership of the Imperial Abbey of Prüm (later also referred to as the Principality of the Imperial Abbey of Prüm). 1574 authorized Pope Gregory XIII. Kurtrier to incorporate the abbey, in 1575 the imperial confirmation followed. When the residents paid homage to Kurtrier, the occupation was completed in 1576. Since 1576 the electors and archbishops of Trier acted in place of the abbot as "administrators" of the abbey. On site, a bailiff was the representative of the Electorate of Trier.
In the 18th century the office was subordinate to the regional office of Prüm . In 1778 the places Fumay and Fépin were ceded to France. With the capture of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops , the office was dissolved after 1794. In the French era , the area belonged to the Arrondissement de Prüm in the Département de la Sarre . As a result of the Congress of Vienna , the district of Prüm came to Prussia in 1815 . The district of Prüm was formed from the arrondissement of Prüm .
scope
In 1784 the office consisted of the city of Prüm , 15 mayor's shops, a dairy and 6 villages with a total of 1187 houses.
Oberamt Prüm
At the beginning of the 18th century, the high level of jurisdiction for the associated offices was concentrated in Prüm . The position of bailiff was also increasingly performed in personal union by the bailiff in the Bernkastel office. The last trustee, Franz Hugo Edmund, was Baron Beisel von Gymnich, Oberamtmann von Prüm, Schönberg and Schönecken. In addition to the Prüm office, the office of Schönberg and the office of Schönecken were also subordinate to the upper office of Prüm .
