Ellwerath is a part of the local community Rommersheim in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Ellwerath is located on the foothills of the Hüscheide Mountains and the Hardtkopf rises to a height of approx. 600 m on the southern edge of the village . NHN . The K 170 and the K 192 run through the village.Northwest of the village is the federal road 51 . Neighboring towns are northeast Rommersheim , Giesdorf in the east, Oberlauch in the south and Niederprüm in the northwest .
history
In 1936 a Roman settlement was found between Rommersheim and Ellwerath. It was settled between the 1st and 6th centuries AD.
On January 1, 1971, the previously independent community of Ellwerath was incorporated into the local community of Rommersheim.
