Niederprüm is a district of the city of Prüm in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Niederprüm lies in the valley of the Prüm . The B 410 runs through the village . To the north of the town is the city center of Prüm, to the east is Rommersheim , to the south Ellwerath and to the west Weinsfeld and Watzerath .

history

Niederprüm was first mentioned in a document on August 13, 762. This document mentions the donation of the Niederprüm estate by Pippin to the Prüm monastery . In 1190 the Benedictine monastery was built , which was closed in 1809.

On June 7, 1969, the previously independent municipality of Niederprüm was incorporated into the city of Prüm.
