Obermehlen is a part of the local community Gondenbrett in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Obermehlen is located in the valley of the Litzenmehlenbach, which flows into the Mehlenbach south of the village . The K 185 runs through the town. Neighboring towns are the main town of Gondenbrett in the east, Niedermehlen in the south and the three towns of Herscheid , Sellerich and Hontheim in the west . In addition, the place is in the Schneifel .
history
Obermehlen is mentioned for the first time in 1247 as Ober Meilnen . Until 1794 the place belonged to the court or mayor's office Gondenbrett. From the French era, the place was an independent municipality in the Niederprüm mayor's office .
On January 1, 1971, Niedermehlen was incorporated into the local community of Gondenbrett.
The small village of Elscheid existed north of the village between 1100 and 1500. Today only the field name Auf Elscheid is evidence of this place.
