Olzheim is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Prüm .
geography
Olzheim lies on the Prüm River , into which the Wambach flows. Olzheim also includes the Halbe Meile, Knaufspesch, Arenthhof, Hof Frohnborn, Hof Harelstein and Vennhof residential areas .
history
Olzheim is mentioned for the first time in 801 in Liber aureus Prumiensis as elm for the first time. In 1330 Olzheim is mentioned for the first time as an independent parish. The Olmuzze farm is already mentioned in the property register of the Prüm Abbey in 893. In 1367, three years before his death, Johann, the last gentleman at Schönecken, pledged the farm at Olmetze. In 1485 a new late Gothic church is built.
Until 1576, Olzheim belonged to the territory of the Prüm Abbey . The Trier Elector Jakob III. Eltz of the Prüm took over territory Olzheim belonged since then until the end of the 18th century country wonderfully for electorate Trier and formed its own Schultheißerei within the Office Prüm .
In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under French administration , Olzheim was assigned to the canton of Prüm in 1798 , which was part of the Prüm arrondissement in the Saardepartement . Olzheim became the seat of a Mairie .
Due to the resolutions passed at the Congress of Vienna , the region became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . 1816, home was a Olzheim under the Prussian administration mayoralty in the newly formed district Prüm in Trier .

Municipal council
The local council in Olzheim consists of twelve council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided between three groups of voters .

Justification for the coat of arms: As a reference to the place name (ulmezum = ulmetum = elm forest) there are three green elm leaves in the upper part of the shield. A growing crook is shown in the lower part of the shield . It is a reference to both the local patron St. Brictius and the former territorial affiliation to the Prüm Abbey . Finally, the red and white shield fields reflect the colors of the Prüm Abbey and those of the Electorate of Trier . |

The Olzheim wind farm was founded in 1997 and has been operating two wind turbines on Olzheimer Berg ( ⊙ ) since December 1997 . Two DeWind D 4 wind turbines with a nominal output of 600 kilowatts each were erected. In 2003 another wind turbine of the type Südwind S77 was installed. The Olzheim wind farm achieved a yield of 1.60 million kWh in 2017.
