history

Since the early Middle Ages, property, lordship and sovereign rights were in Fleringen at the Trier Abbey of St. Irminen . After years of disputes, the St. Irminen Abbey left the two villages of Fleringen and Oberhersdorf to the Duke of Arenberg for an annual lease of 250 Reichstaler, and he thus acquired the income and rights of the Fleringen rule as a fief.

The stock owners in Fleringen and Oberhersdorf had claimed exclusive ownership of the forests after France had taken possession of the land (1798) and therefore started a lawsuit against the community. The prefect of the Saardepartement , however, brought an action for conflict by resolution of January 10, 1807. Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna (1815), Fleringen came to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1817 the owners of the stock asked the Prussian Ministry of the Interior to decide on the lawsuit for conflict or to recognize their property rights. The Ministry of the Interior decided in favor of the stick owners. That is why the community has no community forest to this day.

During the time of need in the second half of the 19th century, many residents emigrated to the USA. The Second World War caused considerable damage to the place, which is barely visible today.
