Blazon : "Shield split from red in front of silver, in front a golden rafter beam, behind an upright, red flaming sword with a black handle." | |
Justification for the coat of arms: In the choir of the Elcherath Church there is a keystone with a heart shield that shows a red rafter. It stands for the builder of the church, the Prüm Abbot Wilhelm from the family of the Manderscheider Counts , who led the red rafter bar in gold in the coat of arms. It stands in the coat of arms in reversed colors for the district of Elcherath. In the second field of the coat of arms is the flaming sword as an attribute of the Archangel Michael , the church and town patron of Winterspelt. |
