Wallersheim is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Prüm .
geography
The place is in the Prüm Kalkmulde and in the North Eifel Nature Park about seven kilometers east of Prüm . The municipality's districts Gellenberg, Dog Mountain, Schank, changing soaps, soaps and White Wolf Wasen, which includes residential space Hunt Sea Katz. The former hamlet "Loch" has merged with the village of Wallersheim. The village of Weißenseifen only partially belongs to Wallersheim.
history
The area around Wallersheim was settled very early, two menhirs are dated to the Neolithic . Also from the Roman period were in the district , a Roman settlement and Roman tombs found Wallersheim. The Roman Army Road from Trier to Cologne led through the Wallersheim community forest.
The place name Wallersheim is probably derived from a person "Walamar". The ending "-heim" is to be interpreted as the property of Walamar. The first documentary mention can be found in the "Carta Gisleberti", a deed of gift to the Prüm Abbey from 777.
Another mention of the place dates from the year 852, in a document of the Emperor Lothar the place was called "Wallimaris in pago Caroscow".
Caesarius called the place "Walmersheym" in the 13th century and lists the estates and fiefs that the Prüm Abbey owned there.
Wallersheim was a Prümsche Schultheisserei , to which, in addition to Wallersheim, Hof Anzelt was also included. In 1777 there were 38 houses and 32 chimneys in Wallersheim.
Until the end of the 18th century Wallersheim belonged to the Electorate of Prüm . In 1815/16 Wallersheim came under Prussian administration and became the seat of a mayor's office , which later became the mayor's office of Prüm-Land .
