Weißenseifen is a hamlet in the West Eifel in Rhineland-Palatinate , in the northern Kyllwald, which is partly part of the Eifel district Bitburg-Prüm , but partly also the district of Vulkaneifel . Weißenseifen is crossed by three municipal boundaries and belongs to different parts of the municipalities of Hersdorf , Wallersheim (Eifel) and Mürlenbach . The place is at an altitude of about 480  m above sea level. NHN and has about 50 inhabitants.

Artist settlement

Weißenseifen is best known as an artists' settlement, which developed from the 1950s. From the 1960s onwards, the activities were strongly influenced by the artist Albrecht Klauer-Simonis . It is predominantly painters and sculptors who chose white soap as a place to work and live. The support group Weißenseifen, which is organized in the umbrella association of the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Soziokultur & Kulturpädagogik Rheinland-Pfalz , organizes a symposium every year , for the first time in 1975.

Remedial educational home

An anthroposophical institution was established in Weißenseifen as early as 1973 . Originally conceived as a school home for multi- handicapped autistic children, this has developed over time into a curative educational home with a school and therapeutic workshops for children, adolescents and adults who work on the basis of the image of man given by Rudolf Steiner in anthroposophy. According to the company, around 20 people are currently being looked after by 40 employees.

Location of the place

White soaps located on a wooded plateau above the Kylltal , about four kilometers west of Mürlenbach, just off the main road L 16. It is not listed on many road maps.

The place is on the old Roman road Trier-Neuss .

climate

The annual precipitation is 983 mm. The rainfall is high. They are in the upper quarter of the values ​​recorded in Germany. Lower values ​​are registered at 84% of the measuring stations of the German Weather Service . The driest month is April, most precipitation falls in November (see precipitation diagram (Hersdorf) ). In November there is 1.5 times more rainfall than in April. The precipitation is nevertheless distributed fairly evenly over the year, only 28% of the measuring stations register lower seasonal fluctuations.
