The first documentary mention of the place as "Hellenbuhc" in the Prümer Urbar comes from the year 893. Until the French occupied the area, Heilenbach belonged to the Prüm rulership for about 1000 years as part of the Seffern farm . In 1800 Heilenbach was added to Mairie Seffern , which was incorporated into Seffern mayor's office of the same name in 1816 . The latter dissolved in 1856 in the mayor's office Bickendorf (from 1927 Amt Bickendorf), from which the Verbandsgemeinde Bitburg-Land was formed in 1970 with further offices.
