About this picture

Neuheilenbach in the Eifel is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Bitburger Land .

history

The place Neuheilenbach did not emerge until 1828 as a new establishment by "Brazilians" from Heilenbach (distance nine kilometers as the crow flies) and initially had four households. “Brazilians” were the name given to those residents of the region who sold their property in 1828 in order to emigrate to Brazil. Some residents of Heilenbach were dissuaded from their plans after they had sold their belongings and settled near Balesfeld instead of in Brazil . During that time, other farms and hamlets were built in the area. The place was first mentioned as "Neuheilenbach" in 1831 and was a district of Balesfeld. By 1850 the settlement had grown to twelve houses.

Neuheilenbach became an independent municipality on September 1, 1960.

coat of arms

Neuheilenbach coat of arms
Blazon : "Under a blue shield head with a golden crown and red stones, crossed blue mallets and chisels in silver, overlaid by a red heart."
Justification of the coat of arms: As a reference to the former sovereignty of the Prüm Abbey on the area of the later municipality, a crown is added to the shield head. Until the middle of the 20th century, the economic structure of the place was largely determined by the sandstone processing, mallets and chisels indicate this. The chapel of Neuheilenbach is under the patronage of Herzens Mariae . This is also the local patronage. It is referred to by the rendering of a heart.
