Wißmannsdorf is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Bitburger Land .

Wissmannsdorf is 240 to 430  m above sea level. NHN and the course of the Prüm river crosses the Eifel community.

The districts are Hermesdorf with the residential area Im Wäldchen , Koosbüsch with the residential area Pooshof (formerly the municipality of Brecht) and Wißmannsdorf with the residential areas Dalbachhof and Zur Weilersheck .

history

An extensive grave field from the Latène period from the last century BC has been excavated on the Koos bush . Roman settlement remains in the Hermesdorf area and several Franconian grave finds in the Wißmannsdorf district are also known. The place Hermesdorf is mentioned for the first time in 1103 as "Herminesdorf". Wißmannsdorf appears for the first time as "Wissemestorf" in 1317 and as "Wysmesdorf" in 1325, while Koosbüsch represents a new settlement from 1832. Wißmannsdorf and Hermesdorf were part of the Luxembourg rule of Hamm ad Prüm until the French period . In 1816, Wißmannsdorf became the seat of a mayor's office, which in 1856 became the Baustert office , which subsequently moved its seat to Oberweis . In the mid-1950s, a more than 400-year-old tradition in the sandstone industry came to an end in Wißmannsdorf. In 1979, today's community Wißmannsdorf with the districts Hermesdorf and Koosbüsch was re-formed through a voluntary merger.

The community Wißmannsdorf was newly formed on June 10, 1979 from the communities Wissmannsdorf and Hermesdorf.

Economy and Infrastructure

Wißmannsdorf is the seat of a day-care center with three groups that is run by the church. The primary school is located in Rittersdorf (approx. 4 km). The schools in Bitburg, Biesdorf and Neuerburg are ideal for further school attendance.

In Wißmannsdorf there is a community hall that is used by the clubs and the village population for all kinds of festivities.
