The district town of Bitburg is about 15 km south-east of the municipality, and it is also about 15 km to the Luxembourg state border. The hill and hilltop landscape surrounding the village in the municipality rises in stages to the north up to 400 m above sea level. NHN . Hütterscheid is exactly on the 50th parallel .
Neighboring communities are: Weidingen , Baustert , Utscheid and Feilsdorf .
history
In 1463 the place appears for the first time as "Huderscheit", but already in 1244 a "Henricus de Houckesheide" is mentioned. From a fireplace book from 1531 it can be seen that Hütterscheid was divided at that time: while the southern village with seven houses belonged to the Bettingen rule , the northern half with six houses was in the Neuerburg rule . After the Thirty Years War , the plague and cholera and several witch burnings , the population had plummeted. In 1636 7 families still lived in the Eifelort, in 1656 only four.
The division into different lordships belonging to the Duchy of Luxembourg existed until the end of the 18th century. After the annexation of Luxembourg (1794) by French revolutionary troops , Hütterscheid belonged to the canton of Neuerburg in the arrondissement of Bitburg and the department of forests from 1795 to 1814 . After the region had been assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna (1815) , the municipality was placed under the administration of the Baustert mayor in the newly created Bitburg district in 1816 .
In 2005 the new development area "Auf dem Gier" was developed.
