Burbach in the Eifel is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has been part of the Bitburger Land community since July 1, 2014 .

geography

Burbach is located on the northern edge of the Kyllburger Waldeifel . The municipality of Burbach also includes the Neustraßburg district and the residential areas and hamlets Burbachermühle (also called Evensmühle), Dahlheckhof, Hof Lietzkreuz, In der Katzenbach and Neuenweiher. Until 1576, Burbach belonged to the territory of the Prüm Abbey . The Trier Elector Jakob III. von Eltz took over the Prüm territory, from then until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the electorate of Trier and to the Seffern mayor within the Prüm office .

In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under the French administration , Burbach was assigned to the canton of Kyllburg in 1798 , which belonged to the arrondissement of Prüm in the Saardepartement . Burbach became the seat of a mairie .
