Burbach in the Eifel is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has been part of the Bitburger Land community since July 1, 2014 .
geography
Burbach is located on the northern edge of the Kyllburger Waldeifel . The municipality of Burbach also includes the Neustraßburg district and the residential areas and hamlets Burbachermühle (also called Evensmühle), Dahlheckhof, Hof Lietzkreuz, In der Katzenbach and Neuenweiher. The Balesfelder Bach , on which Burbachermühle is also located , has its source in the district, northeast of Neustraßburg .
history
Until 1576, Burbach belonged to the territory of the Prüm Abbey . The Trier Elector Jakob III. von Eltz took over the Prüm territory, from then until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the electorate of Trier and to the Seffern mayor within the Prüm office .
In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under the French administration , Burbach was assigned to the canton of Kyllburg in 1798 , which belonged to the arrondissement of Prüm in the Saardepartement . Burbach became the seat of a mairie .
Due to the resolutions passed at the Congress of Vienna , the region became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Under the Prussian administration that came in 1816 mayoralty Burbach to the newly formed district Prüm in Trier .
