Idenheim is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Bitburger Land .
geography
Idenheim is nine kilometers south of Bitburg and 22 kilometers north of Trier. The total area is 770 hectares, 161 hectares of which are pure forest.

Idenheim also includes the Meilbrück, Amgrün Born, Tannenhof and Wiedenhof residential areas .
history
Barrows found in the municipality indicate that there was an early settlement in the area, which is assigned to the younger Hunsrück-Eifel culture . A villa rustica , which was located in today's center of the village, testifies to a settlement in Roman times .
Idenheim was first mentioned in an exchange document from the Prüm Abbey from 844 under the name "Idanheim". Around 1600 Idenheim (Edenheim) came to the Archbishopric of Trier , where it remained until the end of the 18th century.
At the time of the French administration , Idenheim was the seat of a mairie in the canton of Pfalzel and belonged to the Département de la Sarre .
In 1815 that was left bank of the Rhine to Prussia incorporated, Idenheim was in 1816 the seat of a mayor in the then newly formed Bitburg in Trier . The villages of Idenheim with the Wellkyll mill, Idesheim , Sülm with the Pfalzkyll court and the Loskyll, Dahlem and Röhl mill belonged to the Idenheim mayor . Idenheim had a total of 347 inhabitants in 1829 with 50 fireplaces. From 1956 to 1961, cruise missiles of the type TM-61 Matador were stored near the place in bunkered silos for the US armed forces.

The council in Idenheim consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the volunteer local mayor as chairman.
