The Meuse at Fépin

Fépin is a French commune with 265 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the arrondissement Charleville-Mézières , the canton Revin (until 2015: canton Fumay ) and the municipal association Ardenne, Rives de Meuse .

geography

The municipality is located in the Ardennes Regional Nature Park, founded in 2011 . The Meuse forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. Fépin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montigny-sur-Meuse in the north, Haybes in the east and south and the Belgian community of Viroinval in the west.

history

The place originally belonged to the Prüm Abbey . With this the place came to Kurtrier in 1576 and became part of the Prüm office . In 1778 the towns of Fumay and Fépin were ceded by Kurtrier to France.
