Ville-sur-Lumes is located about three kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Charleville-Mézières . Ville-sur-Lumes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Laurent in the north and west, Gernelle in the northeast, Issancourt-et-Rumel in the east, Vivier-au-Court in the southeast and Lumes in the south.

In 1872 the community became independent from the neighboring commune of Saint-Laurent .
