Cliron is a French commune with 377 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Charleville-Mézières , the canton Charleville-Mézières-1 (until 2015 Renwez ) and the Ardenne Métropole municipal association .

geography

The village is located thirteen kilometers west of the canton capital Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes Regional Nature Park, founded in 2011 . The Route nationale 43 runs through the middle of the municipality. Cliron is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tournes in the east, Haudrecy in the south, by the communities of Ham-les-Moines in the canton of Rocroi in the southwest, Lonny in the west, by the communities of Renwez in the canton of Bogny-sur-Meuse in the north-west and Montcornet as well from the municipality of Arreux in the northeast, belonging to the canton of Charleville-Mézières-2 .

history

In 1973, Cliron and Montcornet merged to form the municipality of Montcornet-en-Ardenne . In 1989 the merger was canceled.
