Gernelle is located about five kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Charleville-Mézières . Gernelle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Grandville in the north and west, Gespunsart in the north-east, Vrigne aux Bois in the east, Issancourt-et-Rumel in the south, Ville-sur-Lumes in the south-west and Saint-Laurent in the west and south-west.
