La Francheville is surrounded by the neighboring communities Charleville-Mézières in the north, Villers-Semeuse in the east and north-east, Les Ayvelles in the east and south-east, Saint-Marceau and Saint-Pierre-sur-Vence in the south, Champgineul-sur-Vence in the south-west, Évigny in the west and Prix-lès-Mézières in the north-west.
