Nouzonville Town Hall

Nouzonville is a French commune with 5836 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Charleville-Mézières and the canton of Charleville-Mézières-2 .

geography

The municipality is located around 20 kilometers northwest of Sedan and six kilometers north of Charleville-Mézières on the banks of the Meuse (French: Meuse ). It is only about seven kilometers to the border with Belgium . Neighboring communities are Joigny-sur-Meuse in the north, Bogny-sur-Meuse in the north-west and north-east, Neufmanil in the east, Aiglemont in the south-east, Montcy-Notre-Dame in the south-west and Charleville-Mézières in the west.

The municipality belongs to the Ardennes Regional Nature Park and stretches on both sides of the Maas River , which was developed for inland navigation at this point under the name Canal de la Meuse (formerly: Canal de l'Est ) . The larger part of the municipality on the east side is drained by the Goutelle stream and its tributary Nédimont to the Meuse.

Transport links

The D1 departmental road from Charleville-Mézières to Revin and a railway line from Charleville-Mézières to Namur run along the Meuse . The railway line runs on the right bank of the river and has a train station in town, while Départementsstraße runs on the left bank near the district of Devant Nouzon , which is connected to the main town on the other side of the river by a road bridge. The departmental road D22 runs eastwards towards the Belgian border.
