Sévigny-la-Forêt is a French commune with 276 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the arrondissement Charleville-Mézières , the canton Rocroi and the municipality association Vallées et Plateau d'Ardenne .

geography

The municipality is located in the Ardennes Regional Nature Park, founded in 2011 . Sévigny-la-Forêt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Maubert-Fontaine in the west, Taillette in the northwest, the canton capital Rocroi in the northeast, Le Châtelet-sur-Sormonne and Tremblois-lès-Rocroi in the southeast, Chilly in the south and Étalle in the southwest.

history

The village was at the beginning of the 13th century by the Cathedral Chapter of the Cathedral of Reims founded.

During the Franco-Spanish War (1635-1659) , the site was completely destroyed in the Battle of Rocroi in 1643.
