Vaux-Villaine is a French commune with 195 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016: Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the arrondissement Charleville-Mézières , the canton Signy-l'Abbaye (until 2015: Rumigny ) and the municipality association Ardennes Thiérache .

geography

The municipality is located in the Ardennes Regional Nature Park, founded in 2011 . Vaux-Villaine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of L'Échelle in the northeast, Rouvroy-sur-Audry in the east, Neufmaison in the southeast, Thin-le-Moutier in the south, Lépron-les-Vallées in the southwest, Aubigny-les-Pothées in the west as well from the municipality of Blombay in the canton of Rocroi in the north.

history

The village was at the beginning of the 13th century by the Cathedral Chapter of the Cathedral of Reims founded.

During the Battle of Rocroi the place was partially burned down.

Until 1871, the municipality of Lépron-les-Vallées was part of Vaux-Villaine.
