Dusza Czara Rosary

Dusza Czara-Rosenkranz (actually Józefina Rosenkranz, * 1898 in Bojanczuk ( Bukowina , Austria-Hungary ), † 1967 in Warsaw ) was a mainly German-speaking poet, journalist, translator and propagandist.

Life

Józefina Rosenkranz was born in 1898 in Bukowina, Austria, as the daughter of Ignacy Rosenkranz and Chana Hefter. She was the couple's second child and is an older sister of the Bukovinian poet Moses Rosenkranz (1904-2003). She spent her childhood and youth in Bukovina and in neighboring Austrian Galicia . In 1922, when Galicia was part of Poland , she settled in Krakow . Here she participated under the pseudonym Dusza Czara, which she later retained, in the art movement of the magazine Ezoter , to which her future husband Eugeniusz Stanisław Stec also belonged. She worked as a propagandist, in Poland for the Romanian culture and in Romania for the Polish. She wrote her lyrical work in German. Poems appeared in newspapers and magazines, including the Czernowitzer Allgemeine Zeitung , the Czernowitzer Morgenblatt and the Buchenblätter: Yearbook for German literary efforts . In 1931 Dusza Czara published her first volume, To everyone who is my brother , with Die Arche ( Hirsau ). In 1931 she received a scholarship from the Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Iorga . As a result, she settled in Bucharest . In the 1930s she was acquainted with the Romanian queen mother Marie . After 1946 she settled in Warsaw, where she died in 1967.
