Jochen Neuffer

Jochen Neuffer (* 1982 in Tübingen ) is a German composer , arranger , conductor and pianist .

Live and act

Neuffer studied at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart , where he received piano lessons from Maria Sofianska , Hans-Peter Stenzl and Ull Möck. He studied jazz composition and arrangement with Frank Sikora and Rainer Tempel , and conducting with Dieter Kurz .

He has already worked as arranger for the following artists: Gregory Porter , Lalah Hathaway , Lisa Fischer , Donny McCaslin , José James , Cory Wong , Roberto Fonseca , Ledisi , Jazzmeia Horn , Lianne La Havas , Trijntje Oosterhuis , Thomas Dybdahl , Helen Schneider , Lilian Vieira .

As a composer, arranger and conductor he worked for the following ensembles: Metropole Orkest , Heritage Orchestra , The Quincy Jones Orchestra , BBC Symphony Orchestra , WDR Big Band , SWR Big Band , BBC Proms , Big Band of the Bundeswehr . He was also the arranger of the Friedrichsbau Varieté Stuttgart for many years. From 2010 to 2017 he supervised productions at the Apollo Theater in Stuttgart as a conductor for Disney , Cameron Mackintosh and Udo Jürgens .

Together with the Tobias Becker Big Band , he released the album “Augmented Reality” with original compositions for the big band in 2018. The album received numerous positive reviews when it was released.

In the summer of 2018 he was musical director of Bryan Ferry's orchestral tour , during which he conducted the Metropole Orkest .

For the BBC Proms 2019 he orchestrated the concert “Prom 45: Mississippi Goddam - A Homage to Nina Simone ”, at which Lisa Fischer and Ledisi performed together with the Metropole Orkest under the direction of Jules Buckley . The concert received excellent reviews throughout.

In October 2019 he conducted the anniversary concert “Our Story - Celebrating 15 Years of Tomorrowland ” in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, where he accompanied the DJs Armin van Buuren , Steve Aoki , Tiësto and Afrojack together with the Metropole Orkest .

Neuffer lives and works in Berlin.
