Frank Sikora

Frank Sikora (* 1956 in London ) is a German jazz musician who focuses on composing and arranging.

After graduating from high school in Biberach an der Riß , Sikora studied composition, arrangement and guitar at Berklee College of Music and at the New England Conservatory . He also took private lessons from Michael Gibbs , Claus Ogerman and Jim Hall . There was then extensive concert activity with musicians such as Sal Nistico , Art Farmer , Slide Hampton , Bob Mintzer , Joe Haider , Dieter Ilg and Victor Bailey . Among other things, he arranged for the BBC London Radio Band , the WDR Big Band Cologne , the NDR Big Band and numerous other jazz bands. From 2003 to 2006 he was the musical director and chief conductor of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra .

From 1986 to 2007, Sikora was a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart for arrangement, ear training and composition and since 1989 head of the composition / arrangement department at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, which is part of the Bern University of Music. In 2003 he published his "New Jazz Harmony".

Sikora lives with his family in central Switzerland.
